Be kind to yourself

Updated: Sep 25, 2020

During a conversation with someone I had this week, she said "be kind to yourself." That was a very welcome reminder and a reminder that more people need from time to time.

With all the things going on right now - working from home, starting school, taking care of a toddler 24/7 - there's a lot to juggle. That reminder grounded me for the moment and is something I've told myself at least 3 times in the past 48 hours to ground myself again. There's so many priorities competing for my full attention right now, and there's not one that I would give up. The words "be kind to yourself" helped me recognize everything that's going on, and view the present as an accomplishment. It was what I needed to hear at that moment.

As a future coach, I'll use this as a technique to ground others and recognize their accomplishments in the moment. They are no small feat sometimes!
